Youth Development Backcountry Trip Leader

Full-time, Seasonal, February to Mid-November
Location: Outdoor Education Camp, Portola, CA

Youth Development Backcountry Trip Leaders co-lead outdoor adventures and leadership experiences for teens, focusing on youth from under-resourced communities. Trip Leaders guide participants through multi-day backpacking (guide two trips, both spanning over 12 days) and day trips, creating safe, supportive, and engaging experiences that build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and connection to the natural environment.

Responsibilities include trip planning and logistics, group and risk management, outdoor skills instruction, participant support, and facilitating service-learning experiences. Trip Leaders work as part of a team to help participants develop skills and achieve program goals through meaningful backcountry experiences.
