Sierra Nevada Journeys is hosting Junior Explorers for youth ages 6 to 8 years old.
Also, our partners at the Truckee Meadows Park Foundation are hosting Student Stewards program for kids 8 to 12 years old.

Junior Explorers With Sierra Nevada Journeys
Jump into the fun with our summer day camp, Junior Explorers, where campers can experience all the adventure and enjoyment of a Sierra Nevada Journeys program in a day camp setting. In partnership with the Truckee Meadows Park Foundation, we are excited to offer six weeks of STEM-based day camp programs for children ages 6-8 years old at Rosewood Nature Study, located at 6500 Pembroke Drive, Reno, NV.
Our team of talented educators and camp counselors will lead campers through a combination of daily themed STEM activities, nature exploration around Rosewood Nature Study, daily water play, and camper’s choice. In addition to traditional camp activities, each week of camp will focus on a specific theme. Our low camper-to-staff ratio and small groups allow for the perfect combination of group instruction and personal attention.

Things to Know about junior explorers
Each week, Junior Explorers Camp focuses on a different theme. Camp is held at the Rosewood Nature Study Area, 6500 Prembroke Drive, Reno, NV.
Camp runs Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and we’ve got you covered with aftercare (3:30-5:00 p.m.).
Camp takes place outdoors under shaded pergolas; please make sure your child wears weather-appropriate clothes, sunscreen, a hat and sturdy shoes.
2025 Camp Dates and Themes:
June 9 – 13: Dinosaurs
June 16 – 20: Art in Nature
June 23 – 27: Outdoor Adventures
June 30 – July 3 (no camp on 4th of July holiday and offered at a reduced price): Space
July 7 – 11: Dinosaurs
July 14 – 18: Outdoor Adventures
Daily schedule:
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Camp Activities
3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Aftercare
Cost for Junior Explorers Day Camp
Cost: $275 per week and $25 per day for aftercare. Camp for June 30 - July 3, a-four-day camp due to the 4th of July holiday is $220. Families are responsible for providing a morning snack and a sack lunch for their day camper. Water stations are on site. Check out our discounts for returning campers ($40 off per week) and take an additional $40 off per week for signing up a sibling.
A deposit of $75 per child is due at the time of registration and the balance due for all sessions is June 1, 2025.
Camp Protection Insurance: You have the option to purchase Camp Protection Insurance for $40 per week of camp. All camp fees are non-refundable unless Camp Protection Insurance is purchased at the time of registration.

Student Stewards Summer Camp at Idlewild Park
If you’re looking for a summer day camp option near downtown Reno, check out Student Stewards Summer Camp youth ages 8 to 12, hosted by our partners, Truckee Meadows Park Foundation. Nine weeks of summer programming will be held at Idlewild Park. Before- and after-care are also available with this camp.
