She moved to Sacramento to continue her education and is a recent graduate from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation. During her senior year at CSU Sacramento, Skyla was an intern with Sierra Nevada Journeys through the Sacramento Valley College Corps and fell in love with teaching environmental science to students and Sierra Nevada Journeys’ mission.

In her free time, Skyla enjoys hiking, birding, and spending time with her four fur babies and partner, Zoe. She has a passion for inspiring stewardship and teaching students through outdoor education. Learning science outdoors is a memorable experience Skyla has from her childhood and this has inspired her to create a similar environment for students in the greater Sacramento area.
