Amina Wilson

Field Educator

Amina Wilson was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. Growing up, she formed a strong connection to the Great Basin and the Sierra Nevada mountains through backpacking. In 2018, she moved to Davis, California for school and quickly fell in love with California’s unique ecology. Science was always her favorite subject in school and she fondly remembers the many outdoor field trips and camping trips she got to take. Attending college with many people from all over the country, she saw the reality that many of her peers did not have the same outdoor education opportunities that she experienced while growing up. Amina comes to Sierra Nevada Journeys with a passion for sharing science with others and getting kids outdoors. She hopes to empower young women to pursue science, and embody the strong female role models that she had while growing up.

Amina holds a Bachelor of Science in Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity from UC Davis. She hopes to attend graduate school in the near future to pursue a Masters in Restoration Ecology. When not at work, Amina enjoys rock climbing, baking, and taking long walks.
