Rhony Bhopla

Field Educator

Rhony is a poet, visual artist, and field educator. She has volunteered and worked for multiple nonprofits in the Sacramento region, including her position as Board Chair of Women's Wisdom Art. She completed the Mosaic Education Network's 16-week Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) workshop with Sacramento arts administrators. Her employment experience includes teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, as well as her work with the Crocker Art Museum as an art educator teaching all grades and adults. Rhony holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Davis. She completed her multiple-subject teaching credential program with San Francisco State, and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Pacific University. She was awarded the Mapmakers Scholarship along with a teaching assistantship at Pacific University, and hosted two Mapmakers Alumni Institute webinars with international poets on the topic of Global Perspectives: Ecopoetics and Eco-writing. She is a recipient of a 2023 Fellowship in the Anaphora Arts Emerging Critics Program. She volunteers for the Sacramento Medical Reserve Corps. When she is not writing or painting, Rhony enjoys cooking, gardening, and hiking.
