Lourdes Calzada


Graduate Assistant

A first generation Nevadan, Lourdes grew up in the Reno area and studied at the University of Nevada, Reno. She graduated in 2016 with two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Arts in English. Lourdes is currently completing her master’s degree in marriage, family and couples counseling at UNR. 

Lourdes has been working with youth since she was 15 years old. Her experience has led her to work with youth in after school and camp settings. She interned with Sierra Nevada Journeys in 2016 and continued to teach part-time with us in 2017. She recently came back in 2018 as a graduate assistant working on special projects and teaching in outdoor education to students. During the summer, Lourdes directs the Western Area 4-H Camp in South Lake Tahoe. 

Lourdes enjoys working at Sierra Nevada Journeys because every day is different. She has a passion for working with youth and for the outdoors. In addition to working with children, Lourdes enjoys spending time with her colleagues.
