Taylor Denny

Outdoor Program Instructor

My name is Taylor, and I am super excited to be an Outdoor Program Instructor. I was born and raised in southeastern Virginia. I went to college at James Madison University in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia. At JMU (go dukes) I studied anthropology/archaeology and human-environment relations. I hold a special place in my heart for soil – I’m a big dirt girl – and sustainable agriculture. In my youth, I was the best mud-pie baker any town has ever seen, but as I've grown older, I started to really enjoy baking pies and goodies that are a little more edible and sweet. I love going on long walks and listening to the sounds of nature. I’m a bit of a history buff, and in college I had a job where I got to dress up and pretended I was in the 1700s. And if you were wondering, yes, I absolutely rocked that petticoat and cap. I came to Sierra Nevada Journeys because I think life is best lived outside. A personal connection with the natural world is the best remedy for the soul, and my passion is to help others foster that relationship.
