Alden Carter

Outdoor Program Instructor

I'm an Outdoor Program Instructor from beautiful central Virginia. I grew up in a small farming community at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains and spent a lot of time exploring Shenandoah National Park as a child. Both of my parents are teachers, and every other summer we traveled to Central America to study in Spanish immersion schools. My love for these trips led me to study International Relations and Spanish in college.

The pandemic interrupted my second year and I eventually opted for farm work instead of online classes, and drove cross country to work on farms in southern California, Arizona, and Hawaii for a semester. I finished my degree wanting to transition toward working in agriculture and environmental conservation. I spent last year working and traveling in Hawaii, Brazil, and Nicaragua and learned so much. I love to draw, surf, read, listen to music, and dance.
