Science Educator
Karly was born and raised near Chico, California. Growing up in Northern California gave her a great passion for the outdoors in both agriculture and backcountry camping. In 2018, Karly went to college at Sacramento State to pursue a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration. While attending college, Karly secured a job at Sacramento State’s outdoor adventure company, Peak Adventure’s. During her time at Peak Adventure’s she became a Team Lead for the company’s High Rope’s Course Challenge Center, an Outdoor Trip Leader, and a Youth Camp Counselor.
While working as an Outdoor Trip Leader, Karly discovered the great disconnection between students and the outdoors. This experience inspired her desire for teaching outdoor education. Karly hopes to help students make connections with the world around them, and have students understand that learning can be fun. In her free time, Karly enjoys camping, white-water rafting, and playing board games with friends and family.
