Grizzly Creek Ranch, a campus of Sierra Nevada Journeys, is a perfect place for kids of all ages to get excited about science and the outdoors again! Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus is a 170-bed facility and is located in Portola, California, approximately 50 miles from Reno, and 150 miles from Sacramento. This site has all the amenities that make outdoor education come to life – the foothills of the Sierra, 1500 acres of Yellow Pine Forests, many trails to hike, and many native flora and fauna to discover.
Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus was designed to provide challenge and leadership opportunities in an environment that is modern, fully accessible, safe and enjoyable. The camp was founded by the Sierra Health Foundation with a mission to improve the health, independence and life skills of children.
Many groups and programs call Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus home every year. Campus provides the perfect venue for educational programs, summer camps, youth groups, conferences and many other events.
Offerings at Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus include:
Journeys Outdoor School – Three- to five-day overnight field-studies for school groups that want to explore science in an extraordinary outdoor setting.
Summer Camps – Traditional camp meets inquiry-based, fun exploration. We provide a wide range of activities for kids, adults and special-needs groups.
Private groups – A beautiful venue for conferences, weddings, corporate retreats, or family reunions.
Corporate Advancement – Challenge course and teamwork-oriented day programs or weekend retreats to facilitate group bonding and a stronger workplace.
