Sierra Nevada Journeys offers a variety of workshops for teachers. Often in conjunction with other professional development organizations such as Project Learning Tree and Northwest Regional Professional Development Program, we are constantly innovating around the best ways to support teachers.
NGSS Bootcamp 2019: Human Impacts and the Environment, May 3 - 5, 2019
Join Sierra Nevada Journeys and our partners for the 5th annual Next Generation Science Standards teacher training. This weekend opportunity is open to K-12 teachers in California and Nevada and will be hosted at our Grizzly Creek Ranch camp in Portola, Calif. You’ll receive more than 15 hours of programming that includes STEM workshops, 3-dimensional instruction, outdoor education, challenge course and more. Come learn more about applying the NGSS in your classroom or setting. Join other teachers in grade-level breakouts, hands-on workshops and peer to peer teaching and learning, in a beautiful outdoor setting in the Sierra foothills. One CEU is offered for Nevada teachers through the Nevada Department of Education. The event is May 3 - 5, 2019 and open at no cost to the first 100 teachers to register.
This year will include sessions on the following topics: The Whole Child - diversity, equity and inclusion; Solving Problems through Collaboration- developing solutions to problems presented by human actions on the environment; Citizen Science - inspiring global citizens; and Technology - using technological tools to solve problems, communicate effectively and engage in a global society to create positive change.
