Sydney was born in Eau Claire, WI. She spent her childhood and early adult life in the Midwest where she learned to love and embrace the outdoors in all four seasons. From the time she was a young child, she has had a passion for nature and the environment.
Sydney received her B.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. It was during this time that she realized her love for working with children. After graduation Sydney worked as a director for her city’s parks and recreation department. She helped develop and write curriculum for hands on science driven summer camps for young children. She has also taught Pre-K and worked in special education. She is excited to be able to combine her love for the outdoors and her passion for working with children to Sierra Nevada Journeys. Sydney recently moved to Sacramento. She has always ejoyed the mountains, and is thrilled to have the Sierra Nevada mountains nearby to explore.
When not in the classroom, you can find Sydney biking, hiking, kayaking, or camping.
