Sydney was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood and early adult life moving throughout the Midwest, where she learned to love and embrace the outdoors in all four seasons. From the time she was a young child, she has had a passion for exploring the outdoors.
Sydney received her Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. It was during this time that she realized her love and passion for working with children of all ages and abilities.
After graduation, Sydney worked as a director for her city’s Parks and Recreation department. She helped develop and write curriculum for hands-on, science-driven summer camps for young children. She has also taught Pre-K and worked in special education. Sydney started with Sierra Nevada Journeys as a part time educator and was promoted to core educator.
When she’s not in the classroom, you can find Sydney hiking through the mountains, riding her bike through Sacramento, doing yoga or reading on her patio.
