Sarah is a native of Connecticut and grew up hiking with her family in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Her love of nature played no small part in choosing to go to college in Maine. A short detour in New York City turned into two years spent writing grants for food and homelessness-related non-profits, and three more teaching fourth and fifth grade in Brooklyn. She finally left the city to scratch a recurring itch to travel. After a year of hiking and volunteering on farms in South America, she came to Sacramento for an organic farming apprenticeship at Soil Born Farms. After two years of immersion in sustainable agriculture, she found a satisfying bridge between her passions working for two years as Soil Born Farms' Education Coordinator. She is thrilled to have found her way to Sierra Nevada Journeys as Sacramento Program Director and looks forward to the adventure of building the Classrooms Unleashed program in Sacramento.
Sarah has a BA in Environmental Studies and Spanish from Bates College and an MS in Teaching in Childhood Education from Pace University.
Sarah holds a New York State Multi-Subject Teaching Credential and a California Multi-Subject Teaching Credential.
