Katie grew up in Louisville, Ky. and attended the University of Chicago where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. In order to pursue her interest in education and her lifelong passion for the outdoors, Katie moved to Colorado where she worked as an outdoor educator at High Trails Outdoor Education Center. This experience inspired Katie to further her career in education by moving back to Louisville, where she earned a master’s degree in Teaching at the University of Louisville and worked for three years as a high school English teacher in Louisville’s public schools.
After gaining valuable classroom experience, Katie was eager to reenter the world of outdoor education, and relocated to Sacramento to pursue new opportunities. Katie is thrilled to grow as an educator with Sierra Nevada Journeys while inspiring California’s youth to think critically and become environmental stewards.
In her free time, Katie enjoys climbing, running, hiking, yoga, and reading. She is excited to get to know the City of Sacramento and all of the natural wonders of California.
