Amy was born in Washington and grew up in Southern California, and then Sacramento. Throughout her life, she has loved exploring the outdoors and being in nature. She attended Chico State University and received her BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Child Development. Her internship as an educator for the Recycling and Rubbish Exhibit program at Chico State grew her interest in environmental education.
After graduating, she accepted a job in Santa Cruz as a Naturalist and worked at Mount Hermon Outdoor Science School. Amy fell in love with teaching students in an outdoor setting. She volunteered for Young Women in Science, a Monterey Bay Aquarium program to educate middle school girls in science. To further her education, she attended California State University Sacramento to obtain her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential. In hopes of becoming an outdoor educator, Amy found Sierra Nevada Journeys.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and rock climbing with her husband.
