Rachel moved from North Las Vegas to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. There she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and was an active member of various clubs and organizations on campus. After graduating from the university, she worked as an admissions and recruitment coordinator helping students on their path to college. It was during this time she found a passion for education and working with students. This led her to start a Master’s Program in Education at the University of Nevada, Reno and obtain her teaching license in science. Rachel views science education as a great way to help students to become critical thinkers and hopes to make science fun and accessible to all students.
Rachel began with Sierra Nevada Journeys as a Daugherty Science Intern in the Spring of 2016 and was excited to be able to combine her love of nature and science with a wonderful opportunity to grow as an educator.
When she is not teaching, Rachel enjoys playing city league volleyball, eating pizza and spending time with her husband Justin and their dog Riley. The three of them love hiking and spending time by the Truckee River.
