Karen Senger, CFRE

Director of Development

Karen brings more than 20 years of fundraising and marketing experience to Sierra Nevada Journeys. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She was most recently the Chief Development Officer at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada where she helped implement a major giving program and a sophisticated constituent relationship management system to track donor relationships and giving. In her past development roles, Karen has handled many areas of fundraising including individual giving, corporate giving, foundation giving and special events. She enjoys helping donors realize their philanthropic goals and dreams.

A native of Oklahoma, Karen and her husband moved to Reno in 2008 because they love the area. They enjoy being surrounded by mountains, sagebrush and the overall beauty of the Reno-Tahoe region. Karen likes to go on short hikes, take day trips to surrounding towns and cities and watch and learn about the native wildlife. She recently started watching and identifying birds and participates in the Great Backyard Bird Count, a citizen science project sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society.

Karen considers herself a lifelong learner who loves reading articles and blogs on a variety of topics and is always seeking continuing education opportunities. She received her B.A. in Public Relations from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
