Jennifer has been working in the fields of teaching and environmental education for more than 12 years. Over that time she has gained experience in a variety of educational settings: Outdoor School Naturalist, Summer Camp Forest Specialist, National Park Service Interpreter, Classroom Teacher, among many others! She loves teaching outside and making a difference in the lives of children and adults alike. Her biggest passion is inspiring others through the lens of outdoor environmental education— anyone can make a positive difference in the world!
Jennifer grew up in Yuba City, California. While there she became enamored with her school district’s local Outdoor School program and worked towards a professional career in environmental education. She earned her Associates in Science at Yuba Community College before transferring to Humboldt State University to complete a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Education and Interpretation. While there she immersed herself not only in the academics of the program, but also the extra curricular. Sitting as President of the Redwood Chapter of Environmental Educators and interpreters club for two years, Jennifer brought together a team of fellow college students dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of local children in the Humboldt community. Upon graduating she was awarded Student of the Year for the Environmental Management and Protection Department for her efforts in academics and club activities. Jennifer stayed a final year at Humboldt State to acquire a California Teaching Credential for both Elementary Education in Multiple Subjects and Middle and High School grades for Single Subject Science. Jennifer graduated from her teaching program at the top of her class and was awarded Student Teacher of the Year for her Northern California district.
