Residential Program Director
Jen was born and raised right outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home to Heinz Ketchup, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, and the famous Pittsburgh Steelers. She spent summers with her family in the forests and streams of the Allegheny Mountains kayaking, fishing, and hiking. Her love of outdoor pursuits continued into adulthood creating the spark for a well-suited college major and lifetime of outdoor careers. Jen graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management and Environmental Education. After graduating, she taught outdoors as a seasonal environmental educator, managed a rock climbing non-profit, and fulfilled positions as an Assistant Director and Director in multiple outdoor education facilities from Alabama to Alaska.
When Jen is not dedicating time to children connecting to nature at Sierra Nevada Journeys, you can find her mountain biking, rock climbing with her husband, snowboarding, doing yoga, and playing with her dog children, Izzy and Banjo.
