Cameron Tompkins-Cook

Residential Outdoor Science Instructor

Cameron grew up in Southern California, and went to school at University of California, Los Angeles, majoring in marine biology. After college he joined the Peace Corps, and served as an Environmental Education/Conservation volunteer in a rural village in Paraguay, South America. Since completion, Cameron has traveled across the United States, working at several small-scale organic farms and a youth summer camp, among other things. In 2015, Cameron fulfilled a long-time dream and thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, hiking 2,700 miles in one continuous trip from Mexico to Canada.

In his free time, he enjoys gardening, reading, writing, traveling, and all kinds of outdoor activities, especially backpacking.

Sierra Nevada Journeys is an exciting new opportunity, as Cameron finds few things more rewarding and important than impacting youth through fun and educational exposure to the outdoors.
