Funding Priorities

Thank you for your interest in Sierra Nevada Journeys.

This is what you can make happen with a grant of $1,000 to $10,000.
Our current funding priorities include:

classrooms unleashed

Nevada ranks 44th out of 50 states in educating students in science. Help turn that alarming statistic around by supporting Sierra Nevada Journeys' Classrooms Unleashed Program. Classrooms Unleashed is designed by credentialed teachers to be inquiry-driven, hands-on, student centered and highly engaging. The program leverages the powerful impact of outdoor science education to help drive student achievement and turn youth on to science, technology, engineering and math.

Overnight Outdoor Learning

Sierra Nevada Journeys' Overnight Outdoor Learning Program immerses fifth and sixth graders in exciting, experiential learning during a multi-day residential program at Sierra Nevada Journeys' beautiful Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus just an hour north of Reno in Portola, CA. Whether they are testing the pH of pond water, identifying trees as they hike through the forest, weighing and composting their food waste after lunch, or using teamwork to cross a cable wire 25 feet off the ground, Overnight Outdoor Learning helps students put outdoor science into practice while empowering them to be leaders and stewards of nature.

Family Science Nights

Family Science Nights bring the whole family together to learn and connect through fun, interactive science activities. Sierra Nevada Journeys hosts several Family Science Nights at schools around the region. The evenings culminate in an engineering competition such as who can build the most stable bridge or best catapult. These lively evenings provide great learning while strengthening family relationships and engaging parents and grandparents in school-based events.
