Professional Development

“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.”

Today’s schools have a more difficult job than ever before. They not only provide for the role of educators but of counselor, life-coach, mediator and much more, all in the face of increasingly stringent educational standards. That’s why Sierra Nevada Journeys has introduced the “Multiplier Effect”: a professional development program for educators that not only helps enrich the terrific things they’re already doing , but also provides opportunities to earn graduate credits and Nevada Department of Education renewal credits.

In addition, several of our professional development opportunities are available for agencies, churches, small businesses and corporations as you strive to enhance the development of teamwork, creative problem-solving, communication skills, and leadership skills to enhance organizational success.

In order to provide educators opportunities to conveniently and affordably enhance their toolbox of teaching strategies, content options and to allow for invaluable collaboration time, we have developed a diverse menu of options through which you can explore new and exciting programs.  We also offer customized programming to support schools in their efforts to realize the goals outlined in their school improvement plans through creative and flexible options for school-wide planning, teambuilding, PLC development, and leadership development.

Our programs seek to reach educators from each prong of the educational system – formal classroom teachers, administrators, students attending colleges or universities in preservice preparation programs, and nonformal educators working in a variety of scenarios such as museums, parks and youth organizations.
