Sierra Nevada Journeys recognizes the important programmatic and financial contributions that our partners make to the organization. They are a crucial part of our mission and we’re excited to be able to recognize them here.
Featured Partner… THE UNLV PUBLIC LANDS INSTITUTE
Sierra Nevada Journeys is proud to be partners with the UNLV Public Lands Institute who is hosting this year’s Our Places Tell Stories Conference, in Las Vegas, with the theme of “Lead the Way: Engage, Empower, and Embrace through Environmental Literacy”. Over 200 formal and nonformal educators and guests will be attending! Keynote speakers include Richard Louv and Kevin Coyle, and featured presenters include SNJ’s own Jonathan Mueller and Laurie Gray.
Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation & Parasol Community Collaboration
We’d like to provide special recognition to the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation and the Parasol Community Collaboration for grant funding, for recognizing Sierra Nevada Journeys’ potential when we were still a small non-profit, and for introducing us to the power of Collaboration.
Nevada Outdoor School
Nevada Outdoor School has been an outstanding programmatic and collaborative partner, recognizing Sierra Nevada Journeys’ potential when we were still a small community organization and partnering with us to provide outstanding services across western and northern Nevada.
Project Learning Tree
Since forming a partnership with Sierra Nevada Journeys in February 2008, Project Learning Tree has been a significant reason for Sierra Nevada Journeys’ teacher professional development programs getting off to such a successful start. This national partner has provided funding, curriculum and guidance for those programs.
Sierra Health Foundation
Sierra Nevada Journeys has entered into an exciting new partnership with Sierra Health Foundation to provide state-of-the-art experiential education opportunities for students in California and Nevada, centered at Sierra Health Foundation’s Grizzly Creek Ranch camp in the Sierra. The partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in furthering our individual organization’s common goals!
Sierra Nevada Journeys now partners with GreenPower, a joint program between DRI and NV Energy. GreenPower supports and promotes educating Nevada’s K-12 students in renewable energy and incorporating conscious living practices into their daily lives. The GreenPower program works directly with Nevada’s educators to implement green concepts and practices into the classrooms. Sierra Nevada Journeys provides customized on-site teacher trainings to participating GreenPower schools and collaborates with GreenPower staff in annual statewide trainings. This partnership is a fabulous collaboration between high-profile private and public organizations in our mutual goals of bringing a green education to Nevada’s students.
